Dolasilla, princess of the Fanes, is gazing for the last time her beautiful land before heading for the battle against the evil sorcerer Spina de Mul and his hordes. Alas, it will be her last.

Based on a well known legend of the Dolomites.
Sas dla Crusc is the name of the mountain btw ;)
Watercolours and black ink.

I think the horses neck may be a bit to long or shes sitting to far back along his/her back but other than that i crave to be able to paint, i can only shade.

:-) Cristina Marsi replies: "Hi and thanks for stopping by 2 Yup. I guess you are right, I'm not that familiar with horses and now i see there is something weird with it... funny how you dont notice such things until you are working on it 2 Anyway lets just assume Dolasilla is sitting a bit too far back 10"

Hi, I think you have done a great job 2 It looks so inviting, and you have managed to get a true stonefeeling to the mountain rocks.

:-) Cristina Marsi replies: "*lol* it _is_ inviting, being done after an open air sketch (oh i do love that place). Yeah, I'm happy with the rocks too, it seems that watercolour are great for painting landscapes 2"

The princess and the background is beautiful Cristina, I especially love the mountain. Saddly the horses anatomy is wrong though, they have a bunch of muscles at the top of the forelegs thats missing, and the neck isn't joined to the body very well either.
The knee on the offside front leg isn't quite right either, but if you don't drew horses very often it's not a bad try. 2

I love the colour, it's very bright and warm looking.

:-) Cristina Marsi replies: "Thanks Steph 2 I actually used a reference book for that horse, but im not much familiar with such animals so i may i have missed a lot. Faaaaar more familiar with that mountain 12"

The horse is so cute! The princess is riding it very elegant. I love the colours of the mountains and the way you've painted them.

:-) Cristina Marsi replies: "Thank you Anneke 2 Hope you will come and visit me sometimes so i can show you that mountain and tell you everything about Dolasilla's story 12"

This is so pretty! The women on the horse looks confident yet sad, as if she does know it will be her last time seeing those gorgeous mountains. The water coloring is very well done, i love the depth it gives to the background! You paint so well!

:-) Cristina Marsi replies: "Awww, thanks a lot for your nice comment. Not the part about my watercolour skills, but what you said about Dolasilla proves I managed to say something with my painting 2 Thanks again."

I kind of like the stylized look to this horse, the anatomy isn't sharp but it doesnt have to be. It adds to the dreaminess to the entire image. The scenery here is gorgeous.

:-) Cristina Marsi replies: "As I stated before, I still have to work a lot on anatomy, while scenery and landscapes are my strong point 12 Thank you very much for stopping by and commenting 2"

Cristina you have done a wonderful job with watercolor. It's one of the hardest mediums to master. Once again, a beautiful picture. Keep them coming 2

As I'm living in a town at the feets of the "Sas dla Crusc" and I know very well the legend of Dolasilla I can just to all my compliments to you Cristina for this wonderful paint of you.

Looking at the picture you can just dream about how our wonderful dolomite area would be in a legend like that of Dolasilla.
