Prometheus was the Titan who stole fire from Zeus to give it to mortals. For that, Zeus ordered him to be chained on top of the Caucasus. Every day an eagle would come and eat his liver, but since Prometheus was immortal, his liver always grew back, so he was left to bear the pain every day.

Beautiful picture. Truly masterful.(for those who don’t know how his story ends: later on Zeus’ son Heracles found Prometheus chained to Caucasus and felt bad for him. So he shot the eagle Ethon with his bow. Although Prometheus was freed then, his punishment was to be bound to the rock... so what he did(or heracles, i’m not sure on this bit) is put a small bit of the rock around his finger. And he was free to leave. In his honor the greeks wore rings.(oh and I believe he was considered to be a Titan, although he was not among the 12 titans of Gaia and Uranus.Sorry for bothering you with this) It’s still extremely well done
